Data Storage
The information collected above is stored in an encrypted transmission
log. Access to this log is restricted solely to the Web Manager for the
site, and cannot be accessed directly from the Internet.
Usage
The log is used only to derive statistical information, including the
performance of the site and levels of usage, and to monitor
unauthorised attempts to access the restricted portions of the site or
to otherwise compromise the security of the site.
The site may make use of "cookies" to assist the user with navigation
through the site, and in support of various functions within the site.
These cookies are used only with this site and no attempts are made to
reference these cookies outside the scope of the operation of this
site. This site does not support external advertising, and cookies from
third parties will not knowingly be delivered from this site.
Information contained in the log can only be re-disclosed to the user if:
- the user can satisfactorily identify themselves to the Web Manager and establish a connection between the data held in the log and themselves, AND
- following written permission being given by the General Manager of The OTOBAS Group Pty. Ltd.
Information
contained in the log may be disclosed to a third party in circumstances
in which such disclosure is legally authorised, such as in the
investigation of a criminal offense, and in compliance with a search
warrant or subpoena. Release of information under these circumstances
will be immediately notified to the General Manager of The OTOBAS Group
Pty. Ltd.
Information contained in the log may also be disclosed to the web
manager of another site, the police or other authorities, in
circumstances where a complaint is being lodged by The OTOBAS Group
Pty. Ltd. against the activities of an individual or organisation, and
only where authorised in writing by the General Manager of The OTOBAS
Group Pty. Ltd. on a case by case basis. Only a subset of the total
information contained in the log - that which relates to the individual
or organisation which is the subject of the complaint - will be
released in these circumstances. A complaint will only be lodged where
there is a significant cause for concern about the activities of the
individual or organisation, for example where persistent attempts have
been made to gain access to the restricted portions of the site or
attempts made to compromise the security of the site.
Information capable of identifying an individual or organisation will otherwise not be released.
Summary information that is not capable of identifying an individual or
organisation may be derived from information contained in the log, and
may be published, sold, transferred or otherwise communicated to a
third party or organisation as determined by the General Manager of the
OTOBAS Group Pty. Ltd.
Data Retention
Transmission logs are generated online and are periodically copied
during the normal housekeeping and data backup associated with the
site. Information is periodically deleted from the log to improve
performance, but as this is dependent on the level of activity the site
supports, information may be retained for considerable periods of time
- at least months to years.
Accountability
The General Manager of The OTOBAS Group Pty. Ltd. is responsible for
the administration of this Privacy Policy, in accordance with the Privacy Act as amended from time to time.
